Vancouver Outdoor School

At Vancouver Outdoor School, we provide outdoor experiential learning-based programs and services to schools, organizations and families in the Lower Mainland. We custom-design our learning experiences to fit your needs, budget and curriculum goals. We are also home to Field School, a 100% outdoor homeschooling option for primary and intermediate students in Vancouver, Delta and Port Moody.

Like you, we believe students thrive in an outdoor educational setting and where experiential learning is woven naturally into a student’s learning journey. Our courses are designed for students to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature-based learning while developing deeper wisdom through outdoor skill-building. Students work, discover and play in parks, forests, hiking trails, beaches and lakes. Our learning experiences support social-emotional development and student wellness.

Kleos Open Learning is a K-12 Online School that specializes in meeting learners where they are at. We believe that every child is one-of-a-kind, not one of many. This core belief shapes our learning community and philosophy of education. Kleos is fully certified by the Ministry of Education in BC.  Our goals are to:

  • Provide quality academic programming

  • Meet every child where they are at

  • Start with the relationship first

  • Empower each child to tell their own story and share it with the world

If your child benefits from education beyond the classroom walls, Kleos Open Learning might be the right fit for your family! It all starts with a conversation.

Rachel Gilbert Sleep Consulting

Former special education teacher (B.S. Special Education and Early Childhood Education), mama, and now certified pediatric sleep consultant passionate about teaching other families how to get the sleep they need without struggle.

In my professional life as a teacher, I saw the direct impact sleep had on performance and behaviors in the classroom and often wished there was something I could do to help.

As a new mom, baby sleep was completely foreign to me. After months of sleepless nights and exhaustive internet searches, we were finally able to solve my little girl’s sleep problems and get the sleep we all needed.

I knew this was something I wanted to teach and share with other parents, and so after I left teaching to be a stay-at-home mom, I looked into it and became certified as a pediatric sleep consultant. I now work with children of all abilities, 0-10 years old.

As a sleep consultant, I recognize that not all babies, toddlers or children are the same (obviously!) So why would a one-size-fits-all plan found on the internet solve your precious little one’s sleep struggles? This is where I come in. Together, we will design a plan to fit your family’s needs and schedule that is both gentle and respectful to your child's personality and developmental needs.

Reece - Life Quality Supports

Reece has rare day-to-day life experience in taking care of and developing independence, self-esteem, self-love, self-worth and self-acceptance in his older brother who has autism (ASD). As a result, his older brother doesn’t feel ladled by his disorder and has full awareness of his autism, behaviors, strengths, and weaknesses and has a purpose in his music performing at home, for kids at daycare, and throughout lower British Columbia living a fulfilling life.
Through that experience and 8 years working for multiple companies as a support worker, in personal life coaching practice, and volunteering for Special Olympics British Columbia Reece can connect and develop those same skills in men and women who have physical/mental disabilities.
Reece prides himself on living a healthy lifestyle physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Due to his personal experiences he doesn’t just help people with developmental disabilities, he also helps people not use drugs and alcohol by developing awareness of the root of the person's issues with themselves. Reece has over five years of experience interacting with people afflicted with all types of addictions and has an intimate knowledge of the mental, emotional and physical struggles that addicts go through on a day-to-day basis, which allows him to communicate with them on a more personal and intuitive level. In doing so he helps develop short-term and long-term goals that create self-love, self-esteem, self-worth, and self-acceptance in the process.
Reece’s approach to helping people with disabilities, mental health and addictions reach their full potential is simple: Love, Independence, Fulfillment, and Empowerment. This is the base for his support. Through his heart, he develops a connection with the individual, which turns to trust in one another and then independence through the goals created. Through that, they develop fulfillment inside and out from accomplishing their goals and are empowered to further develop skills to be the best version of themselves and not let their disability, mental, emotional, and physical limitations get in the way of their hopes, dreams, and goals.
Reece’s interests include fitness training, being outdoors, swimming, meditation, yoga, going to the movies, and connecting with people that come in his path throughout any given day. He enjoys a good challenge and wants to spread the love he has for life and others affecting as many people as he can and being a productive member of society.
